This organization is being managed by Irene Jonas Lema, who founded it on 1st March 2021.
Its main aim is to provide free sanitary pads to secondary school girls in order to make sure they have a healthy and hygienic menstruation, the lack of which undermines educational progress of many girls, particularly those who hail from financially- challenged schools.
Binti Msafi organization members have taken a keen interest in research and found that during menstruation periods (which last between five{5} to eight{8} days every month), hinders many girls from attending regularly their classes, due to lack of sanitary facilities and pads in schools to keep their bodies hygienic. This affects their self-confidence and education.
Some of the girl students attempt to innovatively use the available alternatives such as torn pieces of clothes(khanga), and end up suffering public embarrassment.
Orphans and girls from poor families suffer more and undergo the worst embarrassment. Besides, this situation adversely affects their academic performance and hence distorts their future.
Currently, Hai district – home to 30 secondary schools, has 6,818 school girls. Binti Msafi Foundation supports all girls equally.
